GlenDronach 1993, a 16 year old aged in oloroso butt cask, bottled at cask strength, non chill filtered and not coloured.
GlenDronach Distillery
From its hillside home in the Scottish Highlands, The GlenDronach Distillery has been creating the finest richly sherried single malts for nearly 200 years. It is resplendent with a traditional cask iron mash tun, wooden washbacks and four stills.
Appearance
Rich sherry-rosewood hue.
Nose
The GlenDronach 1993 sherried and flawless, powerful but prickly on the nose with some heavy oloroso influence as well. Notes of raisins, dried fruits, and chocolate, are all evident along with fresh leather and a bit of nail polish remover, raspberries and more herbal notes. With water there are hints of a dusty cellar, some beeswax and very light hints of a stable.
Palate
It has good depth in the mouth. Spicy, fruity, slightly toasted. There’s papaya and dried figs, prunes, and some hints of coffee.
Finish
The finish is very long and quite syrupy, getting drier on oranges and figs and less bitter notes in the end. Overall it is quite sweet.
