    Douglas Laing
Glasgow-based Douglas Laing & Co are independent bottlers and blenders headed by brothers, Fred and Stewart Laing, succeeding their father, Fred Douglas who founded the company in 1948. Their highly-rated ranges now regularly features blends up to 25 years old, using the original blend specifications handed down to them.

    Appearance
    Golden copper hue.

    Nose
Big Peat is pure Islay in a glass. It has unmistakable bellowing raw peat smoke, new-laid tar, salt, mint and medicinal aromas.

    Palate
On the palate it is a smooth and warming full bodied malt brimmed with medicinal tang. Despite the name the peat is not overwhelming.

    Finish
The finish rolls on changing and revealing new tastes, again peated followed by sweetness and then some dry, bark bitter chocolate. It is quite robust but very good.

    Awards
Big Peat's feisty big character that is full of good humour with a seriously maritime demeanour has just won Best Blended Malt Scotch Whisky in the World Wide Whiskies Awards held in London, February 2010. Great recognition for a unique and highly successful blend.
