Balblair Distillery
Founded in 1790 Balblair is the second oldest working distillery in Scotland. It is situated on the Dornoch firth, one of the most stunning scenic areas of Scotland.
Appearance
Balblair 1997 Vintage subtly amber in appearance with rose golden highlights is unlike aged single malts (eg 12 YO), in that 'vintage' malts are made only from the stated year's barley harvest (in this case 1997). There is less blending and as a result more distinct character from the master distiller is revealed.
Nose
Balblair 1997 Vintage is a full-bodied malt fused with the aromas of pineapple, apricot and lemon producing a long-lasting sweet finish. American oak barrels are used in the distillate's maturation produce an inviting, spicy fragrance on the nose.
Palate
Tasting of hints of oak, spice and raisin combining with the sweetness of vanilla.
Finish
Long-lingering, creamy smooth finish on the palate.
