Built in 1798, Tobermory Distillery is the only distillery on the island of Mull and the oldest commercial distillery in Scotland. Its old world charm reflects the Tobermory spirit that says we do things the old fashioned way, by hand. The residents of Mull, 'Muliach', call where the distillery rests 'Ledaig', meaning safe haven. Since 1798 the Tobermory Distillery has sat proudly lending a watchful eye over the bay.
Tobermory is unique, it is handcrafted in the only distillery on Mull. It deserves to have time dedicated to it. Those who do seek it out will understand the importance of really looking for something special. Tobermory like to call them, ‘the few’.
It takes something unique to create an Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky. There is a unique blend of location, ingredients, timing and people. Just as Mull is a special place, nestled on the West Coast of Scotland and Tobermory is a unique distillery, as the only one on the island, the people who craft our island spirit are artisans of their craft.
To know that the fruits of your labours will not see the light of day until they have had a lengthy rest takes a special patience. To know the right time to select the right barrel takes a special perfection. These people are Tobermory people.
Crafted, nurtured and aged by islanders since 1798, Tobermory is simply one of of Mull’s hidden gems. Each bottle has been rested on Mull awaiting its time and when bottled it becomes something special that can only be described as treasure.
